Dr. Makhani graduated from Newcastle University in 2015.
He completed two years of invaluable experience in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Paediatric Dentistry at hospitals across the country in Middlesbrough and Edinburgh. This is also where his interest in Oral Surgery and the management of anxious patients developed. He brings this experience into general dental practice through carrying out complex dental extractions including the removal of wisdom teeth.
He is also currently enrolled in a Postgraduate Diploma in Conscious Sedation which will allow him to offer his patients the option of having treatment carried out under sedation to help manage any anxiety they have surrounding dental treatment. Shahid has completed his exams for the Diploma of Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Dr. Makhani currently splits his time between General Dental Practice and working at King’s College Hospital as a Specialty Doctor in Acute Dental Care and Oral Surgery.
Pushing his skills beyond the surgical aspect of dentistry, Dr. Makhani is also an accredited Invisalign Full Practitioner and enjoys practicing preventative and minimally invasive dentistry. He is currently expanding his knowledge and skill set in the field of aesthetic dentistry.
Shahid is a calm, friendly and approachable dentist who strives to ensure his patients have the utmost confidence in his abilities, feel at ease and comfortable when they attend the surgery and receive the best possible care in a relaxing yet professional environment. In his spare time Shahid is a keen cook and enjoys travelling, with his most recent highlight being able to watch England play in the Rugby World Cup in Japan.
