Why choose Composite Bonding?

It’s a quick and effective way to fix minor cosmetic issues. The composite resin is hardened using UV light as soon as it’s applied, resulting in a tooth that you can comfortably bite down by the end of the appointment.

  • Fix damage or cracks

The composite resin can be applied and molded into the required shape to correct any damage or imperfections. You will leave the surgery with your new smile.

  • Fix discolouring

Composite bonding can be a solution for removing staining in teeth.

  • Patients often combine this treatment with tooth whitening

If you are planning to have composite bonding, the dentist will typically recommend that you have any teeth whitening treatments prior to your bonding to ensure an exact colour match.

  • The treatment can also be an affordable solution

Composite Bonding - before and afters

This patient came in with concerns about her stained and uneven teeth colour. Our talented team used both teeth whitening and composite bonding on just four upper teeth to give her this amazing transformation.

Emily was unhappy with the shapes and colour of her teeth. We used teeth whitening and 10 composite bonding to give her a refreshed and perfect smile makeover.

This patient was always concerned about his teeth. We used a combination of Invisalign to straighten the teeth, followed by teeth whitening and four composite bonding to give him a brighter, sparkling smile.

Ravinder wanted to improve her already beautiful smile. We used a combination of Invisalign to straighten the teeth, followed by teeth whitening and composite bonding to give her the dream flawless smile she always wanted.

What is the treatment process?

Your tooth will then be prepared for treatment by slightly roughening the surface. It will then be coated with a liquid which helps the resin to adhere smoothly.

Your dentist will select a resin colour that exactly matches your tooth, so that the composite bond looks 100% natural.

The resin is applied and molded into the required shape. UV light is used to harden the resin before it is shaped again and polished by your dentist. When finished it will match the rest of the tooth.

Many of our patients choose to have a smile makeover which includes composite bonding. Ask your dentist for more information.

How do I care for my composite bonding?

We recommend that you:

  • Avoid biting nails or chewing items such as pen lids, which may chip the material. Bonds aren’t quite as strong as a normal tooth so it’s important to take precautions to avoid damage.
  • Avoid tea, coffee, smoking and food which may stain for at least 48 hours after yuor proceedure.
  • Brush your teeth often and see the hygienist regularly to maintain good oral health. This will help your composite bond stay clean and unstained.

With careful maintenance your composite bond will last for many years.

Combine composite bonding with teeth whitening

Composite bonding is often used alongside teeth whitening treatments, to help you achieve a whiter and more even smile.

Your dentist will typically recommend that you have any teeth whitening treatments before your composite bonds. The composite resin will be selected to exactly match your teeth colour, so it is advisable to get them to your preferred shade before treatment for bonding begins.

Once the composite bond has been placed, it is not possible to change the shade or make it whiter.
