Air Polishing Teeth Treatment

Benefits of Regular Dental Hygiene Visits

Regular visits to your hygienist will help identify any potential oral health issues at an early stage before they result in discomfort or require potentially costly treatment.

Removal of plaque and tartar build-up using a dental hygienist polishing treatment helps prevent the release of acids that are harmful to your teeth and gums. Brushing alone is inadequate in removing the build-up of dental plaque and tartar. Within approximately 72 hours any unremoved plaque will harden into tartar, which cannot be removed with a toothbrush, but can be effectively tackled by your hygienist.

Protection Against Gum Disease

NHS data suggests that 50% of those over the age of 35 suffer from some degree of gum disease. Gum disease is reversible in its early stages, however, if left unchecked it can progress and ultimately lead to pain, bad breath and tooth loss. Your hygienist can help safeguard your gums by removing harmful bacteria from below the gum line and get your oral health back on track using an air polisher dental hygiene treatment.

Elimination of Stubborn Stains With Air Polish Teeth Cleaning

Certain foods, drinks and medications, as well as smoking, can result in stained teeth. These stubborn stains can be removed using the AIR-FLOW system, a combination of water, compressed air and fine powder particles that quickly and comfortably clean and polish teeth, even those areas that are difficult to access. This fast, comfortable method of teeth cleaning is suitable for most patients, including those with sensitive teeth, implants, bridges, veneers and crowns. So you can show off your clean smile in no time.

Dental Care Education

Most people brush their teeth but many do not do so correctly which can lead to oral health concerns and ultimately gum disease. Your hygienist is able to teach you the correct cleaning technique, as well as the type of brush and dental floss you should use for optimum dental care at home, to ensure you continue to support your health while in your own bathroom.

Supporting Fresh Smelling Breath

Bacteria hiding below the gum line is a common cause of bad breath. Toothbrushes alone cannot reach below the gum line, but your dental hygienist is fully equipped to remove harmful bacteria and help keep your breath smelling fresh by completing a deep clean with an air polish teeth cleaning treatment.

Detection of Oral Cancer

Your hygienist is able to detect the early signs of oral cancer. Oral cancer is highly curable if treated early. Your hygienist will offer you advice on the risk factors of oral cancer and how you can reduce them. You will be more at risk of oral cancer if you are a smoker, drink excessive amounts of alcohol, or are infected with the HPV virus.

Confidence Boosting

Knowing your mouth is fresh, clean and healthy following a dental air polishing teeth treatment gives you the confidence that comes from knowing that your smile is bright, sparkling and healthy.

Ensuring you keep up good oral health practices can often eliminate gum disease and decay, much like exercising to keep up bodily health, your hygienist can recommend a personalised plan to keep your teeth and gums in tip top condition.

If you are worried about a hygiene treatment such as air polishing teeth why not listen to Julie’s story about her treatment as she was incredibly nervous, but our team made her feel reassured and boosted her confidence.

Airpolish

This is a simple treatment that is much-loved by many of our patients. Straight-forward and refreshing airflow polishing (airpolish) is a hygiene treatment that effectively removes stains on the front and back of teeth.

How it works

The procedure works by using a fine jet of compressed air, water and fine powder particles to remove staining caused by coffee, tea, red wine, tobacco and some mouthwashes.

Benefits of Air Polishing Teeth

An Airpolish treatment is a quick and easy way to have pesky general stains removed from your teeth.

  • gently removes plaque – helping to prevent gum disease
  • if done before a teeth whitening treatment can improve the overall effectiveness of the whitening
  • a gentler way to remove stains than traditional stain removal treatments, a great idea for anyone nervous of a hygiene appointment

You can just come in and have this treatment done – we’d love to see you for a clean and polish before a big event or just to help you look and feel great.

All our practices are now fully open and operating an open-door policy. We are offering general dental care, with check-ups and hygiene treatments now available. We are following a phased transition to normality to keep everyone safe.

We remain busy and have limited NHS appointments available, please bear with us, our private dentists are working hard to offer options for affordable private dental care. We still need to prioritise those with the most urgent dental needs, and we are not working to full capacity, quite yet.

We appreciate your support in keeping our patients, staff and our wider community safe.
